From Inglewood to Iconic: Photographer Zyaire Porter on Hustle, Heritage & Generational Wealth |

On this Win Wednesday, host T. Ross sits down with acclaimed Los Angeles photographer and creative Zyaire “Z” Porter (Porter House LA) to trace a journey rooted in Inglewood, shaped by the Takeover era, and powered by relentless creativity. Zyaire opens up about fatherhood at 18, launching culture blog SwaggerTory to platform West Coast voices, and the moment he climbed a tree outside Staples Center to capture Kendrick Lamar’s surprise street performance—realizing photography was the path. He shares why he quit his restaurant job to own his time, how he built Porter House LA, and why everyone—from authors to athletes—needs a photographer. Zyaire also breaks down his financial-literacy streetwear brand Seven Streams Club, collabs with God Can Supply and Kou L. Shoots, and the mission behind statements like “Generational Wealth” and “Rebuild Black Wall Street.” Presented by: Helping Homies Win In partnership with: La Create Space (Inglewood, CA) Topics: Inglewood roots • The Takeover legacy • SwaggerTory & early West Coast blog culture • Fatherhood & identity • Betting on yourself • Porter House LA • Seven Streams Club • Ownership, legacy & community collaboration Follow & Connect Helping Homies Win: @homieswin (X), @helpinghomieswin (IG), helpinghomieswin.com La Create Space: @lacreatespace (all platforms) ⏱️ Suggested Chapters 00:00 Intro & why Z creates “things that outlive me” 02:05 Inglewood childhood → outside, Sega, Centinela Day Camp 05:10 The Takeover era: brotherhood, mentorship & saving lives 10:40 Fatherhood at 18: identity, responsibility, and truth-telling 16:30 SwaggerTory: documenting West Coast culture early 22:50 From blog to camera: discovering photography as a calling 27:20 Quitting the restaurant job: choosing time over comfort 31:45 The Kendrick moment (tree + bus show = clarity) 36:10 Building Porter House LA: access, pricing, and value 42:20 Money talks: budgeting, boundaries, asking to be paid 47:00 Seven Streams Club: financial literacy you can wear 52:00 Collabs: “Rebuild Black Wall Street” & Black Billionaires tee 56:30 Defining a “win” & final advice
